Let's Get Serious produced two high quality radio shows broadcast by Moss Side Fm 106.5. Once again, we are inundated by enquiries and requests for information.

LGS have been participating in a series of workshop about quality standards organised by the National Mentoring Network and funded by the LSC.

This is a critical period for Let's Get Serious; independent evaluations from the University of Manchester, Liverpool University and Birmingham University have all reported positively about the project. We are responding to a flood of enquiries about the project, locally, nationally and internationally. Yet at this moment in time no mainstream core funding has been identified and therefore this innovative, successful project faces closure.

All staff at LGS participate in a thought-provoking Presentation Training workshop delivered by Dr Darrin Baines from medM. 20.02.03

LGS have been invoved in a National Mentoring Network/Learning & Skills Council initiative concerning developing quality in mentoring. LGS are assisting in drawing up a National Quality Assurance Framework for mentoring.

Two of our mentors conducted a very successful presentation at the Trust for the Study of Adolescence in London. We have been inundated by enquiries ever since.

Interim Evaluation and Cost-Benefit Report.
We have just received The University of Manchester's Interim Evaluation and Cost-Benefit Report. Although it is an interim report, it does highlight some significant improvements in life experience and identifies some trends in relation to cost benefits. LGS broadcast three two hour shows on Hulme FM 106.5. The programmes provoked a record number of enquiries, the radio station switchboard was jammed!

Let's Get Serious organised an illuminating and stimulating one-day workshop in conjunction with Trefor Lloyd from Working With Men, concerning aspects of masculinity. The workshop was attended by staff, mentors, trainers and invited guests.

Staff and mentors all enjoyed a teambuilding away day walking in the Peak District.

We're delighted that our innovative Men's Health Workout training programme has just recieved accreditation from the Open College Network.

The University of Manchester have just agreed to undertake an evaluation and cost-benefits analysis of Let's Get Serious. Initial findings should be available by Feb 2003.

Our new mentors have just started their careers with Let's Get Serious. They will now start a period of intensive training, beginning with The Pacific Institutes's STEPS programme.

Recruitment adverts featured in local press. Flyers distributed around Manchester, Salford and Trafford.

We've just moved in to spacious new accomodation, so we're a bit busy sorting out furniture, telephones, waste paper bins and so on!

This is a very exciting time for us at the moment with many new developments, hopefully about to come to fruition. Check back soon for more news.
